Panaji or Panjim is a capital of Goa and your first stop on Goa holidays, and also an administrative centre of the state. It is located on The Mandovi River.
It is impossible to not notice the Portuguese influence in this city: architecture of city, narrow streets, and the area with church, constructions with balconies hanging above the street and a set of cosy cafes and small restaurants in the Portuguese style.
It is necessary also to mension the symbol of the city – the Statue of Abbe Faria, born in Goa and died in castle of If.
Remarkable also are the Church of Immaculate Conception (16 century), the Chapel of St. Sebastian and the architectural complex Largo da Igreja. |
