The temple is on the Nilachala Mountain in 7 km west from the city. It is made a Tantric worship including sacrifice of a goat in this temple. Non-Hindus cannot enter into the temple, but can examine it from a special platform.

The other Temple called Navagraha is located to the east of the city and is devoted to nine planets. Because of this ancient temple the city carried name the City of Astrology.

Ruins of the ancient Madan Kamdev temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva are on the place where the god Kama, incinerated by Shiva’s arrow has revived. Walls of a temple are decorated by erotic sculptures similar to sculptures of a world famous temple in Khajuraho.
