The interior of nearby church Cheriapalli (which means small) is decorated with an alive, but unskilful pictures, which were presumably painted by the Portuguese artist in 16 century.
The fine bird's reserve Kumarakom, located in the West, is better to visit at a dawn, before there will arrive crowds of tourists. Aranmula in the south is one of last villages, where people there still make metal mirrors kannadi, and in the same place there is a temple of Krishna, which arranges ritual “not competitive” boat contests.
Mahadeva Temple at Ettumanoor is located 13 km away from Kottayam. It is known as a place of dangerous and angry Shiva to the believers, and to fans of art - as the magnificent sample of temple architecture, decorated by woodcarving. |
