Maharashtra Holidays India

Maharashtra  (Great country) is one of the largest and major states of India. In the course of time the whole region began to be named with the word “maharashtra”, including Aparanta, Vidarbha, Mulak, Ashmak, and Kuntal. Tribes of Nags, Munds and Bhils inhabited this region, which was known in ancient times with the name Dandakaranya.

Then Sak, Huni and Arias joined in with these tribes, comings from the north, and also foreigners, swimming up on the sea. Dravids from the south colonized the territory, joining in with the inhabited group, which was known under the common name “marathi”.
