The best way of spending your holidays in India is to spend your holidays in Udaipur. Udaipur Holidays will be a memorable experience for you. This remarkable city is often named “east Venice” or the “city of lakes”, or the “white city”, in fact all houses are here painted in a white colour.
Maharana Udai Singh II founded this city in 1568, since the Mongol emperor Akbar ransacked its former citadel – Chittorgarh. According to an ancient legend, a place for the new capital of Udai Singh was specified by one of the monks, which often came on the hill at the Pichola Lake. |

On this hill, under the cover of ridge of Aravali they set a new city Udaipur, which is named in honour of its founder Maharana Udai Singh II. Not one time Mongols tried to take this city, but they did not succeed to subordinate it to their self.
The Pichola Lake existed here as early as the time of foundation of the city, but soon, for defence of the city, the lake was extended, and its sizes now are really imposing: the length is 4 km, and the width is a 3 km. In the middle of this lake there are two small islands - Jag Niwas Island and Jag Mandir Island, on them luxurious royal palaces cost and seems, as though they are built straight on the immobile smooth surface of the lake.
North of Pichola a few artificial lakes are located, the greatest from them, created in 1678, is named Fateh Sagar Lake. Between these lakes two small lakes are located. Channels connect all these lakes.
